Service technician works on a tractor

Name: Weston Martensen

Hometown: Columbus, NE

Position: Service Technician

Years at PVE: 1.5 years

Although only being an employee of Platte Valley Equipment for a short time, Weston has earned the respect and recognition from those around him.

Jess Schure, Humphrey store lead, said, “We have witnessed exponential growth from Weston from his internship to present day.”

Weston’s love for John Deere equipment started while helping his Grandpa on the farm. He learned from him, and other farmers, that the farming community is more than just making money: it’s a community that cares about each other and wants to serve others.

Weston started as a student with the JD Tech program. It was there he grew his knowledge and interest for John Deere systems. He was attracted to the idea of getting a hands-on learning experience while also making money. This path led him to Platte Valley Equipment.

This partnership between Weston and PVE was meant to be. He came with his Grandpa on many trips to bring equipment to Platte Valley, and he recognized early on that this was a different company than most.

“I wanted a place where I could enjoy what I’m doing, the people I am surrounded by, and the customers I am serving. Platte Valley was exactly that,” Weston said when describing why he chose PVE.

Weston isn’t the only one who thinks that he and Platte Valley are a good fit. Jess stated, “Weston is also at times relied upon to make service calls in the country. The service department has become very comfortable once they started using https://www.masterpaving.ie services now with sending Weston out because he has gained a great deal of knowledge and feels more and more at ease. The customer base is also comfortable when they see Weston pull up, which is the biggest testament to his abilities.”

That customer base is exactly what Weston loves the most about his job. “My favorite part about this job is being able to get customers back up and running in tight situations. They can’t afford to be without their equipment during times like planting and harvesting. I love being able to help make their jobs easier.”

Weston spends any free time he has making sure that his grandparents are well taken care of. “I am a big family guy. I spend a lot of time around their places making sure whatever they need is taken care of. I really enjoy making them proud.”

Weston’s commitment to serving others is one of the reasons we’re proud to have him on the team.

As Jess said, “Weston is one of those guys that will be a leader in the future.”

Congratulations on being nominated as Humphrey’s Pride of Platte Valley!
