Accounting

Years at PVE: 12

Annette grew up in a John Deere family. She learned to drive on her family’s 4010. She didn’t have any brothers, so she and her sisters helped their father with every aspect of the farming operation. Her favorite farm activity? Stacking hay. Why?

“That was the only time we ever got cherry Kool-Aid!” Annette recalls with a laugh. “It was all fun though. I loved every minute of growing up on the farm.”

Despite her love for production agriculture, Annette wasn’t interested in returning to run the farm. Her love of math pulled her toward a degree in accounting from the Grand Island School of Business. After graduation, she began her career as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business and numerous other local companies. In 2006, she began her role full-time at Platte Valley Equipment.

Annette’s upbringing on the farm helps her connect and empathize with customers today.

“I understand the industry, the agronomy side of things and the business side of it,” said Annette. “I understand the problems they have when it comes to calving in wet season, weed control, all those things.”

Understanding the challenges customers face is Annette’s encouragement to make everyone’s experience at Platte Valley a positive one.

“When I answer the phones, I want people to hear my voice and know I really enjoy my job and enjoy helping them. If they’re having a bad day and equipment’s broken down, I want to be a happy voice to help lighten the tension,” Annette commented.

“Annette has always been a positive role model for everyone in and outside the dealership,” remarked Jess Schure, Humphrey store lead. “Annette is well-known in and around the Humphrey area for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and caring. Her infectious laugh, bright smile, and calmness makes Annette a true treasure. Annette is hard working, driven, and serves the customers and Platte Valley with respect.”

“It’s not pretend,” said Annette. “I really do love it here. I love my job. It’s the best job you could ask for. I’m so blessed to have such amazing people to work with. It’s fun to come to work, we’re a good team, and Platte Valley is an awesome place to work.”

Outside of the office, Annette loves fishing with her family, reading, sewing, and walking at least four miles a day. Her favorite time is spent being Grandma to her eight grandchildren spread across the Midwest.

Congratulations on being nominated as Humphrey’s Pride of Platte Valley!
