Name: Alan Hurt

Hometown: Sherman County

Parts Rep

Years at PVE: 33

Alan began to work at what would eventually become Platte Valley Equipment in 1986. He was hired on as the Parts Manager in Fremont and has since dedicated three decades to serving our local farmers.

“You know this is really a family business,” Alan said. “I have three generations coming in. Grandfather, Father and now their sons.”

Being involved in the Fremont community has always been important to Alan, he’s never done anything in halves. When his son was growing up, they were a part of the local Boy Scouts. He spent his Saturdays as the Assistant Scout Master, seeing his son through to becoming an Eagle Scout.

“Everything goes back to people taking care of people. The best days are being there to take care of customer needs. To answer the phone when they call and find the parts to get them back in the field and do it as quickly as possible. They can’t afford to waste time, so we can’t either.”

The thing Alan enjoys most about Platte Valley is the changes he has been able to see. In 2022, Alan will have been working in John Deere for 50 years. “The ag industry has changed so much, and Platte Valley has changed with it, but overall we still aim for the same thing: the customer first.”

“Alan is the cornerstone of the Fremont parts department. He is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure our customers’ needs are served,” said Kirk Hiemstra, Fremont Parts Manager.

“The people that I deal with, they aren't my customers - they're my friends. We’ve built a relationship. We ask each other how we’re doing, and we really care about the answer,” Alan said.

"Alan is a character-driver employee, always acting in the best interest of our customers and business. No matter what the day brings, he is always passionate about his customer service,” said Jennifer Greunke, Fremont Store Lead.

Outside of work, Alan enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoys his Mustang and going to car shows.

Congratulations, Alan, on being Fremont’s Pride of Platte Valley!
