JUSTIN MORTONName: Justin Morton

Hometown: Fremont, NE

Service Technician

Years at PVE: 7

Justin grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and knew he’d wanted to be a mechanic for as long as he could remember. As a sophomore in high school, he had already applied to the John Deere AG Tech program in Milford, and he started the summer after graduation.

Justin chose to work for Platte Valley through his time at Milford, before becoming a full-time technician.

“My family and I had always been ‘green,’ and Platte Valley Equipment was our home dealership,” he said. “When I started on my path, Platte Valley was behind me from the beginning.”

After graduating from the John Deere Tech program, Justin spent two years in the Fremont shop before transferring to Clarkson to be closer to family. Justin works hard to do things the right way and to do it the first time.

“One of the things I enjoy most about the shop is the group atmosphere. It’s hard to find this anywhere else,” Justin said. “We are like a big think-tank when there is a problem. We can always come up with something.”

According to Justin, the best thing about being a technician is keeping the customers going when they think their day is over.

“The best feeling is when you can get them back out, even the same day,” Justin said. “This past spring, we had a customer’s planter go down. It needed a special-order part and about a day’s labor. We were able to put in a temporary fix and get them back out into the field before the day was up. We were able to wait till a rainy day to get it back in the shop and they were able to continue planting for the rest of the week.”

"Justin is a hard-working individual who,” Darren Gall, Clarkson Store Lead, said. “When given a task, will go above and beyond to get it completed and to keep the customer going. Justin is a respected and detail orientated individual.”

Justin is also a part of his local Fire Department and Rescue Unit. “It’s a great way to give back to the community and it makes you feel like you are a part of something great,” Justin said. “Plus, it keeps the adrenaline up.”

Outside of work and volunteering, Justin can be found down by the dirt tracks. He grew up watching NASCAR with his dad, and his love for mechanics led him to race car driving. Racing at his local tracks in Columbus and Albion is a huge part of Justin’s life.

Congratulations, Justin, on being Clarkson’s Pride of Platte Valley!
