Account Manager

Years at PVE: 30

John “LJ” McEvoy is the definition of a customer-focused account manager. LJ started his career behind the parts counter of Wahoo Implement, which later became Platte Valley Equipment. From there, he became an account manager equipping customers with small tractors, Gators, and riding lawn equipment.

“I learned a lot from working at the parts counter and serving customers. The most important lesson was don't give them the wrong parts because they don't like that,” he laughed. That experience taught him to ask the right questions and listen to understand customer needs.

“I help customers find what they want, determine what will fit them best, and make sure they buy what they need,” LJ explained. “I don’t want them to get home and decide it wasn't quite what they wanted.”

Growing up on a farm in Yutan, LJ can empathize with both ag and residential customers. His background and experience in the parts department helps him better understand and serve his customers.

“Working in the parts department helped grow my product knowledge,” LJ said. That knowledge, coupled with his experience as a property owner and farmer, allows him to provide a great experience for customers – both before and after a sale.

“When customers have questions, I can help them better understand their equipment and solve their issues,” said LJ. “You always have to listen to the customers and hear their wants to make sure they get what they need.”

LJ’s focus on the customer and willingness to go above and beyond throughout his career are what earned him a nomination for Pride of Platte Valley.

“LJ is a great guy to work with and has many years of valuable experience with Platte Valley,” said Ross Miller, Wahoo store lead. “Employees and customers are happy to have him in Wahoo. He is always willing to lend a hand and truly cares about taking care of our customers. He has done a great job in growing our small ag market and has been excellent in promoting our ever-growing lineup of Gators, small tractors and lawnmowers.”

LJ credits his family, the positive store culture, co-workers, and his customers as the reason he’s built his thirty-year career at Platte Valley.

Outside of work, LJ enjoys working on the farm, hunting, camping, ice fishing, and traveling to watch his two sons play football, baseball, and compete in bass fishing tournaments.

Congratulations on your nomination as Wahoo’s Pride of Platte Valley!
