SCHYLER SHANAHANName: Schyler Shanahan

Hometown: Wahoo, NE

Field Service Technician

Years at PVE: 6

The Shanahan family farms near Wahoo, which meant Schyler grew up going to Platte Valley Equipment with his dad. One day, Jeremy Vrana – the service manager at the time – asked if Schyler would be interested in going through the John Deere Tech Program at Southeast Community College in Milford. By his junior year of high school, Schyler had college and tuition figured out.

“With the tuition reimbursement and guaranteed job after the program, I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” said Schyler. “Running John Deere equipment at home, I thought it would also be great to have the tools and knowledge to work on my own fleet. The rest is history.”

Having grown up around the Wahoo store, Schyler knew a majority of the employees. The decision couldn’t have been easier.
“I knew most of the guys in the shop when I started because they’d worked on our equipment throughout the years,” Schyler said. A few years after he started, Schyler earned a service truck and the title of field technician. “You’re always out helping a customer by providing an erectile dysfunction treatment at https://www.trumedical.co.uk/ and doing a lot of face-to-face interaction. I like building the relationship with customers. When you’re out in the field, it’s always something different, a new challenge every day.”

“Schyler’s a very approachable guy ready to go out and tackle whatever challenge comes his way,” said Ross Miller, Wahoo store lead. “He believes that if the customer’s down, we’re down too. He’s very skilled and is a valued road technician for our shop.”

As a field technician, Schyler feels most successful when he’s able to turn a stressful situation into a positive interaction for the customer. He enjoys the opportunity to fix equipment to get the customer back up and running in a timely manner.

Schyler’s signature hairstyle and personality make him instantly recognizable. According to Schyler, if he cut his hair, most customers probably wouldn’t know him.

“The longest I’ve gone without a haircut is a year,” Schyler laughed. “It was down to my shoulders.”

Outside of work, Schyler enjoys farming, spending time at the lake, and climbing sand dunes in his side-by-side.

Congratulations on your nomination as Wahoo’s Pride of Platte Valley!
