JUSTIN HOMOLKAName: Justin Homolka

Hometown: Genoa, NE

Parts Representative

Years at PVE: 7

Justin grew up on a farm in Genoa, but he wasn’t really interested in farming full-time. In fact, he really wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life.

“I wanted to go to college, but I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up,” Justin recalled. “I didn’t help too much on the farm, but I did enough that I knew I wanted to be involved in ag in some way.”

Justin chose Northeast Community College. On a campus tour, he walked through the diesel tech program. He decided that was what we wanted to try.

“I didn’t really work on equipment at home, but I wanted to graduate with a degree that would put me into a career after college,” Justin said. “I knew diesel tech would do that.”

During his program, Justin completed his internship in the parts department at Platte Valley Equipment.

“I never really wanted to be a technician. I really wanted to work in parts,” Justin commented. “My dad suggested I be a parts guy because it’s a good job and air conditioned. My dad has been a great role model and a parts role interested me, so that’s what I applied to for my internship.”

According to Justin, the job changes each day. One day, he may be helping technicians find parts or stocking the showroom while another may be unloading a stock order or pulling cores. The variety is what Justin enjoys about the role.

“I like being at the counter on the computer on some days, but there’s lots to be done outside of that and I like helping there too,” said Justin. “I enjoy the fact that I don’t know what I’m going to be doing when I come in each day.”

At the end of the day, Justin knows his work has helped someone else succeed in their role. Justin’s upbeat attitude, humor, and supportive spirit are what make him a valuable member of the team.

“Justin is simply unselfish,” said Jess Schure, Humphrey store lead. “He is always willing to help anyone who asks for his assistance.”

His comedic prowess also contributes to the atmosphere of the store.

“Justin is a bit of a jokester,” said Jess. “He likes to joke with the customers when he is waiting on them at the counter. This serves him well when the customer is down. He helps take the stress level down a couple notches.”

Outside of work, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends playing cards, attending comedy clubs, bowling, and helping on the farm.

Congratulations on being Humphrey’s Pride of Platte Valley!
