Parts – Shipping & Receiving

Years at PVE: 6

“How would you describe George to someone who’s never met him?”

Ask that question to anyone in the Wahoo store and you’ll be answered with a laugh, smile, and a pause as they try to search for the right description.

For anyone who hasn’t met George, he’s a wise guy with a genuine personality. He’ll answer your serious question with a straight face and such a ridiculous response that you’re not sure how to respond. But then George laughs. And when he laughs, you can’t help but laugh with him.

Jeremy Vrana has worked with George throughout his time at Platte Valley. His description is spot-on, “The one thing about George is even when he’s having a bad day, he’ll still make sure you smile.”

Besides being a positive contributor to the atmosphere in Wahoo, George is one of the main cogs that keeps PVE operational. George’s main job is shipping and receiving. He’s responsible for intaking all parts that come into the Wahoo store. He sorts all orders and then distributes them out to the appropriate parties – customers and technicians alike.

George is also in charge of shipping for the Wahoo store. He coordinates with trucking companies, writes bills of lading, ensures all shipments are labeled appropriately, and keeps records. In addition, George runs all parts returns, core shipments, and transfers between PVE stores and sister stores across the organization.

“George is the guy who keeps the wheels on the bus. George isn’t driving the bus, but he’s the one making sure the bus is going in the right direction,” said Jeremy.

George is an extremely valuable asset to the Wahoo parts department and store as a whole according to Ross Miller, Wahoo store lead.

“Hardworking and determined, we call George Mr. Dependable,” said Ross. “If you ask George to do something, you don’t have to worry about it anymore because it will get done.”

George grew up on a farm in Ashland, Nebraska. He still farms the ground in addition to his full-time position. His background enables him to better serve and relate to customers in his current role.

“I understand why customers need parts now during the harvest and planting rush,” George said. “It also means I can translate when the customer says he/she needs that one thing and that other thing and that other one thing.”

Outside of work, George enjoys farming, herding chickens, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and their two children.

Congratulations on being nominated as Wahoo’s Pride of Platte Valley!
